It is sometimes said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and many of us certainly do have different ideas of what defines beauty. For some people, they only look at what is on the surface but for others, they look beneath the surface and discover what is on the inside. After all, true beauty lies in our personality and what we have to offer to the world, not what we see when we first glance in their direction.
Sometimes, puppies may have a difficult time finding a home because they are not a standard breed or perhaps they have some type of physical defect that makes them “ugly” to others. That was the case with this little pitbull, who ended up on the steps of a high-kill shelter. Because of his physical flaws, the people who worked at the rescue didn’t hold out much hope for him. You can see his story below.
When this little dog was dropped off on the steps of a high-kill shelter, it seems nobody wanted him because he had a few flaws.
He was born with a half formed right ear and was blind in his left eye. He was singled out from his siblings because of these defects and was left at the shelter.
Nicole Horabik worked for a local dog rescue organization and she saw the ad for the puppy online. She knew immediately she had to rescue him.
She went directly to the shelter and brought the eight week old puppy home.
She named him Captain Morgan and she posted this photo of him on her Facebook page.
She wanted people to know that just because a dog is not “perfect” does not mean that they don’g have a lot to offer.
He is now a healthy and growing boy.
He is also adored by his family.
“Cap” got another chance, all because somebody saw beyond his physical flaws.
