In Painesville Ohio, Judge Cicconetti feels that the punishment must fit the crime. Sometimes, he may come up against some criticism for his decisions but it doesn’t seem as if anyone is criticizing him for this one!
It happened in September, when a woman named Alyssa Morrow pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. Her dog, Moose, was locked up inside of the house for an entire week and didn’t have anyone to care for him! His rescuers were appalled at what had happened and his condition, as he was thirsty and starving. Although most judges would throw her in jail, Judge Cicconetti had other plans.
First of all, he spoke for Moose, because the dog was unable to do it for himself. He talked about how frightened the dog must’ve been when he was abandoned. It was then that he looked at Alyssa and told her that she should have a taste of her own medicine. He told her he wanted her to go live like Moose at the county landfill.
“I want them to find the stinkiest smelliest god-awful odor place they can find in that dump and I want you to sit there for 8 hours tomorrow, to think what you did to that dog while you smell the odor. If you puke, you puke.”
Alyssa Morrow pleaded guilty to neglect and animal cruelty. She left her dog trapped inside her house for a week and forced him to live with the filth of the dirt.
Judge Cicconetti decided he would not throw her in jail. He is known for his creative punishments, so he came up with a different idea.
Alyssa had to clean up at the county landfill for 8 hours. She said she would have rather been put in jail because it was so disgusting!
Moose, on the other hand, has a new forever home and will never be neglected again.
