This Rescued Lion Won’t Sleep Without His Blankie

Vicky Keahey is a rather interesting individual, because she rescues exotic animals who are sometimes purchased as pets. It was in June, 2014 that she first saw Lambert, a lion who appeared to be more of a puppy dog than King of the jungle. He was purchased illegally by a family who no longer wanted him and he was in desperate need of help. Keahey was more than happy to rescue this adorable animal and bring him to “In-Sync Exotics.”

The previous owners of Lambert purchased him as a pet for their little children. The children wanted a pet similar to Simba, the lion from the lion King. It didn’t take very long, however, before the family recognized that they could keep him so they contacted the rescue to see if they could help. Keahey had the following to say:

We had heard from the previous owners that he slept in the bed with the grandfather. So I got him a blanket, went into the enclosure and put the blanket in one of the corners. He curled up on that blanket and he went right to sleep. Ever since then, I always give him a blanket.

Lambert is now two years old but he still lives at the rescue because he couldn’t survive in the wild. At the rescue, he has 7000 square feet to roam, including a grassy playground, a sunny area, shade and a pool. He is active and playful and full of personality.
