These Photos Of A Giant Lavender Labyrinth Are Just Stunning

If you have ever had the opportunity to see a labyrinth before, you already recognize that they are beautiful. There is something about the geometric, circular paths that just seem to appeal to our eyes and our hearts. It gives us the opportunity for some meditation as we walk through the area and many people have even made these labyrinths a part of their wedding day.

Although labyrinths may come in many different shapes and sizes, there is one that is going to have an appeal that is unmistakable. It is made out of lavender plants and earth mounds, and it is just as beautiful as it sounds. In the center of the labyrinth, you will find herb gardens and when the breeze is blowing, the scent of lavender will fill the air in a way that you have never experienced before. It is like living an aromatherapy experience and you can do it any time you are in the area.

This type of a labyrinth may sound like a dream but it is actually real and you can visit it. It can be found outside of Grand Rapids at Cherry Point Farm and Market in Western Michigan.

When you come to the area you can wander through the lavender labyrinth without cost. If you really want to experience it, however, you have to make sure you’re there at the right time. There is only a three week window to get to Michigan and enjoy it while it is blooming.

Typically, the bloom takes place between July 8 and 15. It will continue to bloom for a few weeks into the month of August.

If you happen to need a break and would like to see it, it may just be worth the trip.

The scent of lavender can work wonders for stress and, according to the review published in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, it is well worth considering.

Cherry Point is traditionally a cherry farm where you can find sweet and tart cherries. The farm has also grown peaches, apples, raspberries and asparagus. Lavender is a latecomer, but it is well worth it.

As you walk through the labyrinth and herb garden, you will find 36 herbal beds. 12 of the beds that grow on the outside of the labyrinth do so in the full sun. The middle 12 are culinary.

The culinary herbs include: “medicinal herbs,” “insecticide herbs” and “herbs used for dye.”

The farm is trying to reach out to people to teach them the benefits and purposes of herbs.
