When you first see the picture of this baby surrounded by hundreds of syringes, it may take you a bit off guard. All it takes is a look below the surface to see the real meaning behind the photograph and you realize that it is quite a touching reminder.
The fertility clinics, Sher Institutes, posted this picture to their Facebook page in order to show the love that went into making the baby girl shown in the photograph.
Every year, thousands of babies are born in the United States through the process of in vitro fertilization. During this process, the sperm and eggs are joined inside of the laboratory and then the fertilized egg is placed inside of the woman’s uterus. This process requires several injections of hormones.
After seeing this picture on Facebook, one mother handed the phone to her husband. Her story says it all.
“Didn’t even tell my husband what this was, I just handed him my phone. I saw tears form in his eyes as he probably also went through the memories of countless nights, over our four year journey, that he gave me shots. We finally were successful with twin boys and I’ve never been happier!”
Many people across the United States were thrilled with the picture and what it represented.
As the picture went viral, many mothers continued to be touched by what they saw.
In addition, many of these mothers showed their children that were conceived with the aid of fertility treatments as well.
In this photograph, Marie Gray showed her children and captioned it “My IVF twin girlies and their very welcome surprise little brother! What a powerful picture above. Lots o needles to get my girls too.”
Jennifer Mikesell Zupancic also shared pictures of her children who are now four weeks old.
IVF is becoming more and more common as a fertility treatment. This picture and the feedback from the mothers is a testimony to what it is doing to change lives.
