Brave Little Girl Lost Family to Arson Attack

As Christmas gets closer, the wish list of most children gets longer. They often think about receiving toys, candy and other gifts on that special day. Those children look forward to the time when Santa will come and slip the presents under the tree.

As parents, we often look at our children with much joy during this time of year. They tend to be on their best behavior and we just want to get them what is on their list. The same is also true of this special little girl, and who could deny her the simple Christmas wish on her list?

Her name is Safyre Terry and for Christmas this year, she wants to fill up the Christmas tree with cards. It is unfortunate that her family is not here to share her special day or to provide her with a fulfilled wish.

2 years ago, a fire caused by arson took the lives of her father, sister and two brothers.

Safyre survived the fire and despite her loss, she continues to be optimistic.

2

Although she survived the fire, she did suffer physical harm because of it. She had burns on over 75% of her body. Since the fire, she has undergone over 50 operations. According to her paternal aunt:

“She had lost her right hand, three months after the fire and lost her left foot in March.”

“She continues to have problem with her mouth due to the scar tissue tightening up. Her next operation is on January 5th”

Safyre’s father used his own body to protect her from the fire. She was found next to him

4

Although she continues to face challenges, the local community is doing their part to support her and keep her going.

5

Many local residents are doing what they can to help her live a normal life, despite the tragedy.

6

Like little girls everywhere, Safyre loves Christmas.

7

Her aunt Liz got her a special Christmas tree this year so she could hang her Christmas cards.

8

Safyre commented that she couldn’t wait to fill it up. Her aunt liz told her the tree holds 100 cards, but they only get 10 cards per year.

Not satisfied with what she told her niece, Liz took to the internet and posted a request to he friends on Facebook to send Safyre a Christmas card.

9

As you can imagine, the post went viral and the response was quite positive. Many people wanted to do what they could to make this Christmas special for the young girl.

10

Just a simple gesture, such as sending a card, can make a difference in the life of this young girl.
