BREAKING NEWS: Mary Tyler Moore Is Dead At The Age Of 80

Many of us remember Mary Tyler Moore as a brilliant young actress who played alongside Dick Van Dyke on the classic sitcom, The Dick Van Dyke Show. In recent years, however, she has been suffering from declining health and at the age of 80, she has now passed away.

Mara Buxbaum, her longtime representative had the following to say about her passing. “Today, beloved icon Mary Tyler Moore passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”

Mary was born on December 29, 1936. She is best known for her role as the wife of Dick Van Dyke and for The Mary Tyler Moore Show. That show premiered in 1970 and continue to run for seven years. Her role on her own show as a young, independent housewife was groundbreaking for the time. She was also a regular on The Dick Van Dyke Show, as well as having influenced shows such as 30 Rock and Friends.

She was well known as a giving individual, and she was involved in many forms of charity work. Some of her most prominent types of charities included diabetes research and animal rights.

Her health had been declining in the past several years. It was revealed by her former costar, Dick Van Dyke, that she was unable to communicate and was in poor health. She leaves behind Robert Levine, her husband.

Mary Tyler Moore was dominating the sitcom scene throughout the 60s and 70s. She was first known for The Dick Van Dyke Show, and then for The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Her leading role in the Mary Tyler Moore show was groundbreaking. It set the tone for a new era in television.
