A college student was recently at the gym when he overheard a conversation about a girl who needed a tampon and he knew he could help out. It was in the Facebook post that Chance Ward, a student at California’s Occidental College, explains how he was distressed over seeing women embarrassed about their periods. He is also a community specialist at Occidental College Center for Gender Equity.
At the beginning of his Facebook post is the example that occurred at the gym. A girl had asked a friend for a tampon but when she recognized that she was overheard by Ward, she apologized and was embarrassed. You can only imagine how surprised she was when Ward opened his Fanny pack and pulled out a tampon for the girl without even hesitating.
Chance Said, “By the look on her face you would have thought I did a magic trick and pulled 36 titty-tasseled bunny rabbits out that damn bag.”

The more recent post by Ward has now gone viral, with over 2000 shares and 8000 likes. It seems as if the Facebook community is rallying behind this unique message.

It is posts like this that help to promote acceptance of a woman’s body. No woman should be ashamed of something that occurs naturally and from time to time, everyone needs a reminder of it.
Ward followed up his original post on Friday, reminding people that “there are people and organizations that pour the entirety of their livelihoods into this very same cause”
