Cops Do The Nicest Thing When A Bird Builds Her Nest On Their Car

If you are someone who listens to the news regularly, you will likely notice that most of the news about police officers is bad. In fact, it seems as if you hear one bad report after another. Unfortunately, that type of reporting has shaped the minds of many, who now don’t trust the very people who are there to protect them.

As you are about to see, not all police are bad and some of them have a heart as big as the great outdoors. Take, for instance, the officers from the Parma Police Department in Ohio. They recently found one of their patrol cars was used as a nest building site by a Dove. Rather than simply removing the nest, they went the opposite direction.

1

The dove chose a spot without much protection to lay her eggs, so they added an umbrella on the windshield to give her some shade and to keep the nest dry.

2

Just to make sure the dove wouldn’t be bothered by people passing by, they taped off the area. Now the cruiser was a bird sanctuary!

The cops have even started to dig up worms for the dove so she stays healthy while laying on her eggs.

3

Kevin Riley, a spokesman for the police department said the efforts for the bird are not crucial to their work, but they are part of a higher calling:

Our officers are human beings just like anyone else. We care for all lives human and animal so the officers took a carrier to this bird, which they nicknamed Gerty, is taken care of and can take care of her young in the cruiser.
