Firefighters Pose with Puppies for Annual Calendar

The firefighters calendar in Australia has been doing photo shoots every year since 1993. The photo series are compiled into a calendar and the profits from those calendars usually go to the Children’s Hospital Foundation Burns Unit. This year, they decided to team up with the RSPCA and do something different.

Rather than simply posing shirtless in the picture, they posed with some adorable puppies. The puppies were loaners from animal shelters and they made the entire calendar appear playful and wonderful.

This isn’t the first time that organizations have teamed up with animals in order to support a cause or make a statement. The firefighters, however, seem to do it in a rather wonderful way and I would imagine the ladies have to agree.

The Australian Firefighters Calendar has been taking pictures since 1993 and compiling them into a calendar.

The proceeds from the sale of calendars typically goes to the Children’s Hospital Foundation Burns Unit along with other nearby charities.

3

They made a slight change this year and partnered with the RSPCA, a nonprofit that helps to prevent animal cruelty.

This year, the firefighters spend the day posing with these puppies. They are on loan from Safe Haven Animal Rescue.

All of these puppies are up for adoption. The firefighters are not up for adoption.

The proceeds from this calendar will be split with the RSPCA. They will use the extra funds for improving animal shelters and educating communities.

Since taking the pictures, the firefighters have received a lot of attention from the project. Over 80,000 people are now following them on Facebook.

7

The firefighters calendar has raised over $1 million so far. They hope to raise awareness for animals who need help.
