It was a day like many others at the Garrett household. The wife, Brittany was getting ready for the day when she saw Christopher, her husband, standing in the doorway. He was holding their young son and he had tears in his eyes. Like many wives, Brittany started to think that the worst had happened but she was quickly assured it was quite the opposite. In fact, it was something quite wonderful that had happened.
You see, Christopher was wounded in combat. He had his pelvis shattered and, although he went through rehabilitation, he still walked with a limp. There were some things that were just difficult for him to do and one of those things was mowing the lawn.
Christopher used a push mower weekly, which would be difficult for anyone. Considering his injury, however, it took him a lot longer to finish.
On this particular morning, however, they got an anonymous gift, and it was incredible.
This is Brittany Lynn Garrett with her husband, Christopher, and their son.
Christopher was wounded in Iraq when he was serving in the armed forces. He has made a great recovery but still finds it difficult to do certain things because of his injury.
When he found this note, he was quite overcome with joy and gratitude, as was his wife. The note came from an anonymous person, but it was to thank Christopher for his military service.
So what was the gift?
It was a riding mower!
It was tough to get out and push a walk-behind mower every week but this riding mower would make life much easier. It would give him more time to spend with his wife and son.
They don’t know who gave them the mower but they are quite touched that someone would go to that trouble for them. Brittany wrote the following on Facebook:
“Thank you whoever you are! You don’t know how much pain this is going to save him from!”
