Father Reunited with Daughter When He Finds Her in Homeless Shelter

How would you feel if somebody kept your daughter away from you for 2 years. Many of us cringe at the thought or we may feel that it is just too difficult to imagine. Unfortunately, the prevalence of divorce and separation has caused this to be a problem that is fairly commonplace. All too often, parents use children as leverage.

At times the greatest of terms may not be met during the separation and the story of one father and his daughter is more than a sure to touch your heart. He managed to defy the odds and turn a situation that was terrible into a happy reunion.

Bryan Thouvenel was a father of three children at the age of 41. After his most recent relationship had gone south, his 2-year-old daughter, Harmony Rain, was taken away by the mother. He was devastated, but he continued to work to find his little girl and to try for custody.

After more than two years of searching, Thouvenel received a phone call from a friend saying that he thought he had seen the young girl. He was directed toward a homeless shelter in Washington state.

Thouvenel took his own mother along for what could be a very difficult situation. They jumped into the car immediately and made the drive from Myrtle Creek, Oregon to Washington state to find his daughter.

Since the courts had already been notified, Thouvenel would be granted full custody of his daughter. All that was necessary was for him to find his baby girl and bring her home. It took some searching but with hard work and dedication, he found his daughter at the Salvation Army in Spokane, Washington.

Harmony was now 4 years old and she was elated at seeing her father. He remembers looking into the sky and singing “Twinkle, twinkle” while they were separated. He was hoping that they would both be looking at the same sky. Doing so is no longer necessary and he is not planning on letting his baby girl go anytime soon.

Harmony received her middle name, Rain, in honor of the Beetle’s song by the same name. We have a feeling the two of them will be singing it together quite often.
