It doesn’t take much investigating to realize that we live in a very difficult world. It seems as if we hear one bad news story after another, and many of us are fearful in even innocent situations. At times, however, we see something that restores our faith in humanity and makes us realize that we are all in this together.
On a recent flight to China, the kindness of individual humans became apparent to all on board. When you see what this flight attendant did for a disabled man, who was having difficulty eating, it will bring tears to your eyes.
The passenger on the plane was Mr. Niu, a 71-year-old man who had previously had a stroke. He was confined to a wheelchair and had many lingering difficulties as a result of the stroke. When it came time to eat the meal on the plane, he was unable to do so.
It was then that Fan, one of the flight attendants, noticed that he was struggling to eat. It was at that point that she knelt down in front of him and fed the man his meal.
There was so much compassion displayed by the woman that the gentleman broke down and cried. There were also many on the plane as well who were not only taking pictures of this amazing scene, they were also doing their fair share of crying as well.
Eating was very difficult for Mr. Niu as a result of his stroke, but Fan gave him all of the attention and time that he needed.
She first started by feeding him rice but when she realized it was too difficult for him to chew, she switched to noodles. He did have some difficulty and choked on the food occasionally, but Fan patiently waited until he recovered. She also wiped away his tears, as he was crying ever harder as a result of her kindness.
One of the passengers who had taken pictures uploaded them to a social media website. They were an instant sensation and since then, the pictures have gone viral. Reporters have even approached Fan, asking her about the situation and what she had done. For this amazing young woman, however, there was never a question as to what should be done. She said:
“Mr Niu worked hard all his life and contributed to society, we should be kind to him.”
We should let her example move us to do kind ask for others as well.
