It Started Out As An Ordinary Street But The Neighbors Turned It Into The Perfect Wedding Venue

All of us want something a little different when it comes to the wedding day. Some people want to be married in an outlandish location, perhaps traveling many miles to get there. Others would like to have a memorable wedding at a famous landmark and still others want something very simple.

Susie Osei wanted something very special for her wedding as well, she wanted to be close to her parents on the street where she grew up. That is when she decided to put together a user-friendly, yet awesome ceremony for her mother to enjoy.

Her friends, family and neighbors all pitched in to make it come to life. You are not going to believe how beautiful they made the street. You can see it through the images below.

Susie Osei had something special in mind for a wedding venu when she married her high school sweetheart, Miles.. She wanted to be married on the same street where she grew up.

2

Her mother and father also live on that street. Since her mother suffers from Alzheimer’s, she chose that street so her mother would be familiar with the venue and wouldn’t have to travel to enjoy it.

3

These two had been inseparable from high school so they wanted to hurry and make the marriage something that her mother could experience.

“Miles became more aware of the fact that having my mom still present – and I don’t mean physically – on the day we got married was more important than waiting for a time that would be less complicated,”

4

They also didn’t want to have to ask the parents to pay for anything. They wanted to be a fun and easy-going ceremony.

Both Miles and his bride-to-be were in grad school and working full-time, so they didn’t have a lot of time to plan.

Fortunately, the neighbors in the area are an awesome group. They had been throwing block parties for the Fourth of July for more than 80 years!

Since they were close to this couple and the parents, they were happy to step in and make it a reality.

Osei’s father sent emails to the neighbors, asking if the wedding could be held on the block. What they got in return were a lot of well wishes and offers to help.

7

The neighbors came together to help where they could. They hung lights, donated silverware, picked flowers from the gardens, decorated the wedding cake and even offered to DJ.

The father was also a huge help. He made the centerpieces for the reception and built a welcome door for the couple to walk through.

When it all came together, it was absolutely beautiful.

“I’m never going to be able to truly have people understand how much my neighbors did for this wedding,” Osei explained.

9

Her oldest brother officiated the wedding, making it a family affair. In the end, their wish for a simple and beautiful wedding surrounded by friends and family came true.

10

The mother also had a wonderful time! Rather than waiting for the marriage, they decided to make it happen and they got to see that precious family member present for the most important day of their lives.

Osei inherited her mum’s wedding ring since she is unable to wear it. Her devotion to her family makes their marriage even more meaningful.

Thanks to the kindness of their neighbors, the couple was able to have the wedding of their dreams.
