Make-A-Wish Foundation Builds Treehouse for Seven-year-old in Wheelchair

Most of us don’t really think much about getting around, and when we were children, we may have easily climbed up into a tree house. That is the case for every child, however, and some are severely limited because of disabilities. For Hayden Trigg, his entire life was spent in a wheelchair because of spina bifida and cerebral palsy. He couldn’t play with his friends on the conventional playground, because much of the equipment is not accessible to wheelchairs.

The Make-A-Wish foundation changed all of that, providing a way for him to play and to have his friends play right along with him. They erected a treehouse, which essentially is a wheelchair friendly wooden wonder structure. It was completed in his own backyard and includes a 65 foot long ramp for his chair.

Not only is he able to play in this awesome treehouse on his own, his siblings can play along with him. In addition, the strength he gets from playing goes right along with his physical therapy treatments to help build up his overall strength. It truly is a win-win situation.

Check out the photos of this awesome treehouse below.

The Make-A-Wish foundation, along with BioTrust Nutrition and Austin Treehouses, came together to create a wheelchair friendly treehouse for him to play in. It was constructed right in his own backyard.

Trigg watched as the project was built from the very moment that they started. The finished treehouse includes a 65 foot ramp and an enclosed, private structure.

Trigg was able to cut the ribbon on this structure and his first grade class came to enjoy it with him. At first, he wasn’t able to share in playing with his friends but now, thanks to this awesome treehouse, everyone can enjoy it along with him.

The treehouse also helps him to get exercise and is a great space for him to do his physical therapy.

Thanks to the volunteers who devoted their time, Trigg is able to enjoy something awesome in his life.
