This Is What Happens When Schools Keep Getting Blamed For Kids’ Bad Behaviour

As a parent, we may send our children to school and we do so to ensure that they get an education. It has been that way for many years and the students learn how to read, write and do maths by the time they are ready to get out of grammar school. The problem is, the education does not typically stop at that point but the point of education has shifted in recent years.

It has become commonplace for parents and other people who are involved with the children to end up blaming teachers, the school system or education in general for all the problems that children experience. It doesn’t matter if it is their academic failing or if it is behavioural in nature, those in the school system tend to be the scapegoats.

According to this viral Facebook post, however, it looks as if one school has started to swing the pendulum in another direction.

The note has been passed around Facebook and on other social media sites. It shows a message that was sent to parents from a school in Portugal. A number of bullet points are part of the message that talked about the correct way to teach children behaviour, at home.

“Dear parents

We would like to remind you that magic words such as hello, please, you’re welcome, I’m sorry, and thank you, all begin to be learned at home

It’s also at home that children learn to be honest, to be on time, diligent, show friends their sympathy, as well as show utmost respect for their elders and all teachers.

Home is where they learn to be clean, not talk with their mouths full, and how/where to properly dispose of garbage.

Home is also where they learn to be organised, to take good care of their belongings, and that it’s not ok to touch others.

Here at school, on the other hand, we teach language, maths, history, geography, physics, sciences, and physical education. We only reinforce the education that children receive at home from their parents.”

Some people question the validity of the note but one thing is not being questioned, the fact that it is sound advice.
