Long Jumper Promises His Sick Mum He Would Win The Gold, Then He Rushes To Her Bedside With Medal

When the Olympics start, people from around the world come together to represent their home country in some of the best competitive sports on the planet. In the end, it isn’t only about winning, it is also about be compassionate, fair and a part of the team.

Each athlete is competing for the top prize, the gold medal. Jeff Henderson, from the U.S., is a long jumper who won that prize and he is happy for a very unique reason.

It isn’t winning the gold that really mattered, it was being able to show it to his mum, who has been dealing with Alzheimer’s disease for 10 years. You see, before he left for Rio, he promised his Mum he would bring home the gold, and he did.

After bringing the medal home, he placed it on his mother’s bed, which was draped with the American flag. He then posted the picture to Instagram. The picture has gone viral.
