Owner Of Taco Shop Helps The Homeless With A Unique Give And Take Idea

When the temperatures turn colder outside, many of us retreat to the warmer confines of our homes but not everyone has that luxury. It is an unfortunate reality that many people are without homes and as the temperature dips in the winter months, it signals some very difficult times for them.

Fortunately, there are some people who are willing to make a difference. Although we will always have a problem with homelessness, there are those who do their part in making sure that it is a little more comfortable for them. That is the case with the owner of this taco shop in a major metropolitan city. He had an idea and it is taking off quite nicely. It may be a simple gesture but it is helping people to stay warm this winter.

This is the second year that Emilia Flores has set up a coat rack outside of her taco shop. She saw the idea in Mexico and decided to give it a try when she got back home.

“This is a way of people not being embarrassed about asking,” said Flores. “They just come and pick what they need and leave.”

It doesn’t matter if they are homeless or just struggling to get by, this is an idea that helps those in need.

“In small ways you can actually make a difference,” she said. “And this year particularly I thought that the world is so polarized and the country is so polarized, it’s just another reminder that it takes very little to make life easier for people.”

Although the wardrobe was stolen 4 times last year, it was replaced by Flores and her customers. They are determined to do the same if necessary to keep warm clothes available for those in need.
