He Saw The Unique Habits Of His Autistic Son So He Started Documenting Them

When a child is diagnosed with autism, it can be difficult on everyone involved. Often, you need to find a way to deal with the situation and it needs to be something that feels right to you. For Thimothy Archibald, the father of a five-year-old autistic child named Elijah, his way of dealing with it was through photography.

Thimothy is a professional photographer and he found that taking pictures of his son’s unique characteristics was his way to deal with it and they are all benefiting from his efforts. It has helped him to learn a lot about his son and the world where he lives, and it also helps them to learn more about his art and the fact that he can’t always control the situation.

Elijah has obsessions with mechanical objects and he tends to be socially withdrawn and feels a need for repetition. Every photograph that was taken of Elijah shows these habits and how he interacts with the world where he lives. The series of photos has been turned into a book called ‘Echolilia’.
