Jase and Missy Tell Their Son He Can’t Come Home

Back in the 1990s, a man and a woman by the name of Jase and Missy got married. They are the Robertsons, part of the Duck Dynasty TV show that many of us have followed for years. Like any wedding, things ware quite busy in the weeks leading up to the big day.

In a recent blog post, Missy revealed something to the world that was rather startling. It was during that week leading up to the marriage that her father pulled her aside and told her out right, “When you get married on Friday, you can’t come home.”

She didn’t understand what he said so he clarified it for her. “You are not welcome to come back to this house to live after Friday night.” As you can imagine, she was offended by what he said. He went on to say more:

“When you have problems with your husband, and you will, you’ll need to work them out,” he continued, “Your mom and I will be here to help you however we can, but you’ll have to go home to your husband.”

As you likely know, Jase and Missy have been married for many years and, although it was not always the perfect marriage, they are certainly happily married. She shared this story with her son, Reed, who was also planning a fall wedding with his fiancée, Brighton.

“I also told them about the times that I laid in bed crying and wishing I was back at my parents’ home in the comfort of my upstairs bedroom without all of these challenges and disappointments of my new life,” she writes. “Then I would remember what my dad told me, and I knew I had to go talk to Jase about it.”

Missy wants her son to know about the lesson she learned more than 25 years ago. She had some words of wisdom to give to both Reed and Brighton, that we are sure they will not forget as well:

“Reed, I love you with all my heart, but once you say ‘I do’ this fall, you can’t come home. And Brighton, you’re stuck with him.”

We are sure that this young couple was behind them all the way and can’t wait to spend their lives not living at their parents home.
