Many of us wonder what the mood will be after we die. We may even wonder about our obituary and funeral. Of course, we never will really know what the mood will be or how many people will come to our funeral when we die, but it is of concern to many people.
When Leroy “Blast” Bill Black died of lung cancer at the age of 55, I’m sure he wasn’t expecting what he got. This man ended up with 2 obituaries in the same paper, one appearing on top of the other.
Most readers thought it was a mistake, but when they looked closer, they realized that one was written by his wife, the other was written by his girlfriend. Both obituaries were slightly different.
This was no oversight on the part of the newspaper. They knew that there were two obituaries, but they were slightly different. Rather than have the 2 women argue over the details while they were grieving, they decided to print both of them.
This is probably the most talked about obituary to come out in a while.
This is the one published by Leroy’s wife
In this version, he is survived by a “loving wife”
The one below is what his girlfriend had printed:
In this version, he is survived by his “longtime girlfriend.”
Other than the slight difference, the obituaries are almost the same. It is noteworthy, however, that the one written by his girlfriend does not mention his wife, but she does mention is occupation. His wife left that part out.
This is Leroy during happier times
It appears his wife had the obituary published with the funeral home.
This is typically a quiet area to live, but I’m sure tongues were wagging over this one.
