It is easy to look at what you see when you first look at something and judge everything based on that first appearance. As you are about to find out, however, not everything is as it seems and a quick change may make all the difference in your perception. The only thing that it doesn’t change is what is on the inside.
When people use to see Mel coming, they would walk the other way because she was quite intimidating. She doesn’t care, however, because she feels misunderstood and she is just lashing out because she was bullied as a child.
“I was always that little geek at the back of the classroom, always getting bullied. Must have been an easy target,” Mel said. “I was once beaten up for dropping a pencil on the floor. I was just picked on. All the way through primary and secondary school. I think I started dressing like this as a sort of armor.”
Mel decided it was time for a change so she got an awesome makeover. She left the piercings and leather behind and stunned her family, as well as herself.
This is Mel. She considers herself to be a tough punk rocker. People stare at her when she struts down the street. They’re usually either scared or intimidated. Mel says she doesn’t care what others think of her.
In fact, she loves her unusual pink hair and many piercings. There’s just one issue.
Mel’s parents aren’t too excited about their daughter’s life choices.
“Some people look at her as though she is scum. It just makes me feel ashamed sometimes,” her mother said.
Mel decided to get a make-under on the British TV series, Snog, Marry, Avoid to surprise her family. However, she ended up surprising herself. She loved her new look.
Strangers loved Mel’s new look. 70 percent of the guys asked on the street said they would “snog” Mel, while the other 30 percent said they would marry her because she’s the kind of girl they’d like to bring home to their mother!
Mel loved the look so much she kept it after the show. Watch the emotional moment her family sees her for the very first time in the video below.
