400 Trees Mysteriously Bent in Poland

The general population typically looks to science for answers to a variety of questions, but there are still plenty of mysteries that have yet to be solved. For example, America’s Stonehenge, located in North Salem, NH is an ancient mystery in the United States that still has experts baffled!

Another mystery can be found in Poland, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure what to think when I first heard of it. It is known as the “crooked forest,” and it consists of a series of bent pine trees that were planted sometime in the 1930s. After being planted, they were bent approximately 10 years later but nobody knows why.

Of course, conspiracy theorists have their own theories but for the most part, they are only grasping at straws. What do you think caused this phenomena? Read more about the crooked forest here…

One of the most confusing aspects of this grove of trees is its uniformity. 400 trees are bent at a 90° angle near the base and no one knows who, or what did it!

1

One of the clues that has been left behind is that each of the trees is bent in the exact same direction, due North. This leads to further debate as to whether it may have occurred as a result of human interaction or by some other force.

2

Could a fluctuation in Earth’s gravity have caused this problem? There is not much evidence to support the theory, but it has been considered. One of the problems is that gravity always pulls objects straight down, not sideways.

3

It may have been that a heavy blanket of snow fell in the area and covered the saplings, causing them to bend. The trees may never have recovered from such an issue. That still doesn’t explain why they would all be bent to the north!

4

The snowfall theory is unlikely to have occurred for another reason. 400 trees were affected in this way but it is surrounded by a forest of trees that were not affected.

5

Yet another theory is that the unusual shape of the trees may have been caused by extraterrestrial or alien forces. Yes, it sounds crazy, but it has been considered.

5a

It has been considered that the trees may have been damaged by enemy tanks during World War II. This is unlikely to have taken place, however, because tanks would have likely damaged the trees to the point where they did not grow.

6

Another reason why the tank theory may not hold water is because of the fact that only a small patch of the forest was affected. Additionally, would damage from a tank have caused such a deep bend in the trunk?

7

Some of the local residents have considered the possibility of a magical connection, although that is also far-fetched.

8

The majority of those who are aware of the crooked forest feel as if it was planted that way on purpose. This is one theory that also works in conjunction with the fact that the majority of the forest was not affected.

9

Could it have been that local farmers planted the trees during the 1930s and then manipulated them for a specific purpose? They could’ve been bent in such a way for the purpose of building ships. Since Poland was invaded during World War II, not long after this phenomenon occurred, the farmers may have been unable to finish their work.

10

It doesn’t matter why it occurred, it is a source of fascination for many visitors who flock to the area every year. Not only do they enjoy looking at the trees, they also like to formulate their own possible reasons why it occurred as well.
