Bulgarian Artist Turns The Crosswalks In Madrid Into Colourful Works Of Art

Art can take on many different forms and extends far beyond what many people consider to be artwork, which is typically shown in the gallery or put on a wall. In fact, art can be seen in many different areas of life and at times, something that would be considered rather ordinary can be turned into something extraordinary when it is seen through an artist’s eyes.

For example, have you ever considered a pedestrian crossing to be something that is art worthy? Many people wouldn’t, but for Bulgarian artist Christo Guelov, those crossings take on an entirely different meaning. As a matter of fact, when you see them after he is finished, they are rather amazing.

This artist is taking ordinary pedestrian crossings in Madrid and turning them into colourful pieces of art. It is part of a project called funnycross, and a number of geometric designs and striking colours are used. Although they are rather amazing to see, it is not all about the beauty. It is also hoped that it will help to raise awareness for both pedestrians and drivers of those who are in the crosswalks.
