Pet Fox Becomes a Dog’s BFF

Juniper, a pet fox, is no stranger to the spotlight. She became an Internet sensation when she confused a bed with snow. It seems as if she is now back in the spotlight, because she has become friends with a dog. His name is Moose, and he was also rescued as a puppy.

Moose is an Australian Shepherd mix and from the day Juniper was brought home, he became her guardian. They did everything together, from eating and sleeping to playing. Their mother, Jessika, add the following to say:

“Juniper is in love with Moose and spends all day trying to get as much of his attention as possible. I brought Juniper home when she was only five weeks old. Moose was raised around all kinds of animals so when she ran up to him tail wagging and crying they were instantly friends.”

“Foxes put their butts on things they want to own or think is theirs. Moose gets sat on daily. I’ll often walk into the room and see Moose laying down with such a glum look on his face while Juniper is there just sitting in this head smiling.”

It may seem as if their friendship is right out of a fairytale, but some caution needs to be considered as well. A fox is different than a pet dog or cat. They have extremely strong smelling urine and feces and there is no way to de-scent a Fox, similar to the way that you would do it to a skunk.

In addition, foxes tend to be rather destructive and they need to be taken care of in a very specific way with taurine or they could have seizures, go blind or even die.

That being said, we’re glad that these two have found each other.
