Artist Put A Dress In The Dead Sea For 2 Years And Now it Is A Salt Crystal Masterpiece

You may not have heard of Sigalit Landau before, but after you see what this artist did with a dress, you may never forget her name. She submerged a black gown in the Dead Sea in 2014 and two years later, removed it for display. You will see that the results of doing so are not only beautiful, they are astounding.

The project is called Salt Bride and it was inspired by a 1916 play. The play is about a young Hasidic woman who is possessed by the spirit of her dead lover. The salt encrusted gown is a replica of the one worn in this production during the 1920s.

The dress was checked at various times during three-month intervals to capture the gradual process of salt crystallization. It is now on display at London’s Marlborough Contemporary.
