A Woman Reacts to a New, Racist Workplace Dress Code in the Best Way Ever

It seems as if the world is interested in dress codes, then they are not always thought of in the best way possible. In many cases, people are still concerned over what women work to work, and it can result in some problems at times.

As an example, if you are a meteorologist, you may not be able to show your shoulders or show too much cleavage. If you do happen to dress “improperly” in that regard, it could result in a lot of backlash from the general public.

After June J Rivas found out that her boss complained about her wearing a ponytail last week, she started wearing a headscarf. As she put it, “So my boss didn’t like me wearing my hair in a ponytail every day … nor my hair in a scarf … nor my hair in pigtails.”

She continued that she filed a harassment complaint against her. The contract states, no dress code, just be cleaned and pressed. The following pictures are how Rivas shows up for work each day, and it really shows some originality.

Rather than backing down after the issue took place, her boss issued a memo regarding the dress code at the office.

“We now have a dress code,” Rivas wrote. “No any of above, plus no straps, hats, sandals, cleavage, lace, and even (and I quote) ‘cultural head wraps.'”

Since they now banned cultural head wraps, her employer joins many others who are trying to police women and how they appear at work. There are already a number of incidents in various workplaces where women can’t wear cornrows or headscarves.

Meanwhile, Rivas has reported her boss to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. While they are investigating, she decided to have a little fun. She stuck with a new dress code, but she did so in a way that they probably didn’t expect.

As of now, she has posted almost 20 photographs of herself on her Facebook page and they have been shared more than 20,000 times. Many commenters are applauding her creativity and hoping that the powers get knocked down a peg or two.
