I make no apologies for saying this, but when you have little children you literally have to have eyes in the back of your head. And that applies even more so when you are out shopping. It can be very easy to be distracted whilst trying to concentrate on that purchase you are trying to make, but it literally only takes seconds for your little boy or girl to disappear, and no product or purchase is worth that.
Recently in Target Amanda Kalidy and her daughter Jenna were doing some shopping. A girl who Amanda estimated to be about 9 years of age, kept approaching Jenna and offering her sweets. Although Jenna kept on saying no this little girl was very persistent, and eventually Amanda stepped in and told the girl that her daughter didn’t want any sweets and to leave her alone.
The girl got upset and left Jenna alone, but when mother and daughter got to the till, the girl reappeared and tried once again. As Amanda looked across the store she saw an adult male signalling to the 9-year-old, and she immediately informed the cashier who called a manager.
Realising that he had been spotted the man and the little girl ran out of the store. Amanda firmly believes the little girl was being used to grab other young children for a trafficking operation.
The local police accept this could be one explanation, whilst the other could be using the little girl as a distraction to enable the man to steal flustered parents purses or other valuables. Either way, the important thing to learn from this episode is to always be on the lookout at all times, it only takes a second for someone to steal your property or even worse your child.
