Policeman Helps Mother With Baby Mow the Lawn

A mother was busy mowing the lawn and was surprised when she saw a policeman pull his squad car over, right in front of her house. It seems that almost everything we hear about law enforcement is bad lately. In reality, that is what the media covers but there are also many police officers who are quite interested in protecting and serving, as they are sworn to do.

When this Alabama mother was busy mowing the lawn with her baby in her arms, a policeman showed up and showed her what it meant to go above and beyond the call of duty. He didn’t do it by taking a bullet for her, but he did take the mower from her and mowed her lawn.

It started when Rachel Brindley, a mother of a four-month-old child, went outside to help her husband.

She had the following to say:

He has been working hard on a work project and hasn’t had time to cut [the grass]. It was a nice day out so I thought I’d help my husband out and cut it myself. I enjoy cutting the grass.

It’s difficult being a stay-at-home mom with such a young child. She couldn’t leave the baby alone inside so she carried him in a front facing baby carrier while she took care of the yard work. It may not be an ideal situation, but it was something she wanted to do.

When the police car pulled up in front of the home and stopped, she was a little worried about what he wanted. As it turns out, the officer wasn’t there to cause any problems, he was there to serve the public and he did it by mowing the lawn for her.

This was such an amazing thing to do for a mother of such a young child. As most young mothers would do, she took to Facebook to express her gratitude to this helpful policeman.

“Y’all I thought I was about to get in trouble or something for baby wearing while mowing but this sweet sheriff stopped and insisted on mowing my yard for me!”

The policemen wanted to remain anonymous but the department did say that it was possible to get more stuff done out of the car then inside of the car, and they weren’t talking about yard work. They feel that the car is often a barrier to the public so the deputies are encouraged to step outside and make some encounters with the community.
