Father Is Warning Parents about the Dangers of Babies and RSV

Many people turn to natural remedies when they have a cold or the flu but it is important to understand that not all illnesses are brought on by exposure to cold weather. The father in the story learned that all too well, and he is now sharing his experience with others.

It started in February, 2016. This father posted pictures of his “little fighter” who had been battling a mysterious illness. He watched as his precious little girl flatlined, but was then revived miraculously by the pediatric team. She was then hooked up to a ventilator.

After being checked out thoroughly, his daughter was diagnosed with a severe medical condition but it is one that many parents are not aware of. This father is now trying to spread the word about the illness and the simple ways parents can avoid it happening to their own children.

The father shared his personal story on Imgur and it has gone viral. He talks about how his daughter was admitted to the hospital with viral meningitis.

As soon as the pediatric team arrived at the hospital to pick her up, she flatlined. They revived her and put her on a ventilator immediately.

Shortly after they revived her, doctors diagnosed the baby with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). He was told that if it had gotten any worse, she would’ve been beyond hope.

Like many parents, this father had no clue as to what RSV was. Now that he knows, he is encouraging parents to be cautious when handling their children.

This precious little girl was not only struggling with RSV, she also had type H. influenza, pneumonia, bronchitis and her right lung was partially collapsed.

The father does a fairly good job explaining the effects and implications of RSV but he does a great job of warning about the dangers. It is absolutely imperative that parents wash their hands before handling young infants.

These instructions may seem rather straightforward to most parents, but understanding the difference between common colds and RSV plays into the big picture.

RSV is caused by exposure to cold temperatures. Like the cold or flu, it is brought on by direct contact with surfaces or through airborne water droplets from coughing or sneezing.

Up to 60% of infants are usually infected with RSV in the United States. Many of those children go on to suffer from lower respiratory tract infections.

Dr. Ari. Brown, author of Baby 411, had the following to say.

“RSV is not only spread through droplets, but through contact on surfaces like the grocery cart that your baby touches that another ill child was coughing on an hour earlier.”

Is it possible for someone to die if you don’t wash your hands? Technically, yes, it is!

3 weeks later, dad was snapping some pictures and he saw something in his daughter’s face. He saw that she was a born fighter, and she was able to miraculously recover from such a dangerous situation.

The father is warning parents everywhere; make sure to wash your hands before handling little ones and wrap them up when heading outside into the cold. Of course, the cold and flu are also caused from a virus, but allowing your child to become too cold could make them more susceptible to an infection.
